An 8-year-old boy was killed and 6 other people injured in a San Diego boat accident in the San Diego Bay when a US Coast Guard patrol boat crashed against a recreational boat just before 6 p.m.  All the victims were taken to UCSD Medical Center.

The boating accident happened during the annual San Diego Parade of Lights which features dozens of boats with Christmas lights sailing around the Bay.  It is unknown whether the recreational boat was part of the celebration but could have just been a spectator boat.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the friends and family of the young boy who died.  It is a tragic loss.
