Point Reyes Boat Accident Claims Fourth Marin County Fatality

The body of a fourth man involved in a Marin County boating accident was recovered on July 16, 2010.  According to Flight Technical Officer, the Sonoma County Sherriff’s helicopter received a call around 2:01 p.m. that a body was found near 10 Mile Beach close to Point Reyes. A 3-person recovery team passed the recovered body to the rangers where the Point Reyes National Seashore took the custody.

The bodies of the Ronald Fuentes, 65, Melvin Cox, 67 and Henry Medrano, 62 were pulled by the coastguards on July 14, 2010. It is believed that the body recovered on July 21, 2010 is of Jack Taylor, 62 who was the boat owner.

All four victims were lifelong friends and would come to Bodega Bay for fishing and camping each year.

This is indeed a tragic accident and the authorities are taking immediate action to know what caused the boat to capsize.  Our prayers go out to the friends and families of the deceased.  We hope that the investigation brings answers and peace of mind.
