Brownsville Boat Accident Leaves One Injured

A 33 year-old man, Matthew Bankes was injured in a boat accident on June 5, 2010 at 5:15 p.m along the Mississippi river south of Brownsville, Minnesota. According to the press release made by the Houston County Sherriff’s Officel, Bankes fell out of the boat that he was riding and was then struck by it.

It is believed that the propeller of the boat and boat itself hit Bankes badly, leaving him with serious brain and back injuries. Information about Bankes present condition is not available.

We offer our deepest sympathies to Bankes and his family for such tough time and wish for his speedy recovery.  However, one has to wonder why Bankes fell out of the boat and was then struck by it.  Did it hit a wake unexpectedly, sending him overboard?  Was he drinking or intoxicated?  Did he simply lose his balance?  It is impossible to tell from the facts of the supporting news story whether the negligence of someone else caused his injuries.
