Tsunami After-Shocks Shake Southern California

The boating community in Southern California had a rough time two weeks ago when a small tsunami hit the local inner waters along the Pacific Ocean. The coast area experienced tidal surges that were 2-4 feet tall as an after-effect of the major Chilean earthquake.  The tsunami, thankfully, did not cause any injuries or deaths, but succeeded in affecting the California coast and the vessels sailing near the coast and docked nearby. The boating facilities, including harbors and docks, were deeply affected along the Southern California coastline from San Diego to Santa Barbara.

Thankfully the tsunami was relatively minor.  It is important to have a disaster preparedness strategy in place in case of tsunami, earthquake, or hurricane.  Sailors and boat owners need to know what to do when unusual but powerful forces affect their vessels.
